Context:

The BMW (mild) hybrid vehicles use a 48V li-ion battery with its own onboard BMS in the battery casing itself. If the BMS detects abnormal cell conditions (e.g. under-volt), the battery goes into lockout state, and the contactor stays permanently open. The batteries are usually LTO (Lithium Titanate), in a 20S configuration (2.4V * 20 = 48V)
