EVC EXPLORER – Model S/X User manual

TOOL DESIGNED FOR PROFESSIONAL WORKSHOPS AND LABS

The EVC Explorer is a fully in-house developed diagnostic tool designed specifically for EV workshops. It integrates hardware, firmware, and software tailored to real-world scenarios, focusing on the most commonly required functions and data readings, such as those used in battery and LDU repairs.

Initially produced in three prototypes in 2019, we’ve now expanded its functionality to streamline and accelerate workshop repairs, particularly for Tesla Model S and X batteries.

Tool Functions:

  • Readings for battery, DCDC, and drive unit parameters
  • Battery SOH (State of Health)
  • Battery cell data (temperature and voltage)
  • Battery internal isolation readings
  • Battery resets: w026, f107, f123, bms_u029, bms_u025, contactor stress reset, and more
  • Battery calibration data erasure
  • BMS Alert code readings (MCU Alerts)
  • BMS_U031 Smart fuse change service alert and reset
  • NEW – CAC battery readings
  • NEW – Battery sense wire resistance readings
  • Upcoming – Battery contactor control for charging and discharging without opening the battery
  • NEW – Coolant flush and air purge
  • NEW – Air suspension crash reset, service mode exit, error reading, and LDU immobilizer reset
  • NEW – Charger MASTER SLAVE programming, PHASE board live data, and pre-repair troubleshooting
  • Upcoming – Parking brake unlock and lock control
  • HVAC live data monitoring
  • Cruise control live data monitoring
  • Charge Port live data (to verify if it’s functioning or faulty)

LAN Functions:

  • Tegra unlock token calculator
  • Tegra GTW unlock via token
  • BMS reset over LAN (f027, f123, f026, etc.)
  • Factory and developer mode access
  • Sending message broadcasts to MCU

CAN BUS Terminal Functions:

  • Monitors CANBUS IDs and relevant data in a text box
  • Manual ID filtering (e.g., “P6F2ON” to filter and activate ID 6F2)
  • CANBUS command broadcasting (e.g., “C6F21234567887654321” to send a command to ID 6F2)

Although software bugs may occur, we provide regular weekly updates through a subscription model (€50 per month), supported by a dedicated team. The tool is sold “as is” and will be available in limited quantities to our close partners and customers, with only 20 units available.

By purchasing this tool, you’re supporting our mission to promote EV adoption, expand third-party repair support, and push our team toward new research and the development of innovative tools.

A monthly subscription between €20-50 will be implemented next year.

HARDWARE PINOUT and SOFTWARE INSTALL
Tool is has its own 16pin and 20pin cable for Model S and X for use on vehicle. Other benchtest wirings for LDU, BMS and other modules will be sold separately. 
Car CANBUS port is always below MCU screen. Pull drawer down.
When you receive your tool for the first time, make EVC folder on desktop and copy paste .exe file which you receive from us thru download link.
Then run software and new window will pop up.
USING YOUR KEYBOARD, Press CTRL+C to copy the content and open your email and press PASTE and send us Machine ID to our email showed in the window. After that we will send you regkey.dat license file for your PC to be able to run the software. SO DONT SEND ME SCREENSHOT OF THAT WINDOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
When you send us ID xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx we will create regkey.dat file which you will download and place into same folder where EVC exe is, like shown in picture.
Here you can check how to use software for the first time. SOFTWARE DOESNT WORK WITHOUT INTERNET.
Left side of LIVE data is enabled via radio button ENABLE LIVE DATA, same for the right side of the tab.
Version 1.6 Update – BMS BENCH WAKEUP

1 – With BMS Bench Active you can force BMS to send you all the data frames CAC dSoc Voltage and alerts. Without it BMS reboots every 5 seconds and you dont receive all data frames.

2 – Button KEEP AWAKE is troubleshouting command for repair purposes or any other engineering requests where you want to send wakeup only once.

3- Reset CAC added in cases when you change BMS, or you change module and you want to recalibrate battery or range.
